The Menil Collection website emphasizes the museum’s special campus. The museum’s progressive legacy in the civil rights movement, its strong collection of surrealist art, and its unique historical approach to exhibition design, inspired a colorful and theatrical approach to the web design and user experience, even as the design remains sober and minimalist in its design.

Behind the scenes, the website’s calendar is integrated with the museum’s Sharepoint installation, and its online collection is integrated with the museum’s TMS installation (a system used by many museums to manage collection objects internally). This allows artworks from TMS to be fully integrated into our areas of the site, including search results, exhibition pages, and elsewhere.

The site also features an integrated shop and an innovative “Read” area that combines unique online publications with printed publications for sale, into a single integrated publishing channel.
