Our website for Salmagundi, a quarterly journal of the arts and humanities published at Skidmore College, brings its long history of intellectual exchange to life through a design that foregrounds its breadth and diversity.

The homepage features typographic headlines drawn from typesetting details across decades of publishing, forming a living “salmagundi” of articles and unexpected juxtapositions. Each visit feels slightly different, reflecting the publication’s eclectic and evolving voice.

Built on our flexible content management system, Economy, the site’s structure supports both reading and commerce. Every article links directly to its parent issue, and all issues are available for purchase by default. This approach simplifies ongoing maintenance and catalogue updates while allowing readers to move easily between individual pieces and the complete publication.
