PS1’s new website, separates the contemporary art museum from MoMA’s website for the first time in several years, and introduces a new brand identity. The site expresses a whole new kind of non-hierarchical programming. Its homepage is an endless communication stream designed to amplify the voices of artists and community organizations – a platform as much as an institution. Each post on the homepage is the beginning of a larger page and set of relationships, providing numerous entry points to deeper journeys within PS1’s site and also leading outward from it.
The homepage’s second tab is a sophisticated calendar which slides into view, providing a date-based rather than narrative means to explore PS1’s offerings. The site is highly optimized for performance, is extremely flexible for authors, and is optimized for mobile.
